How Much to Hire a Wedding Singer 2021

We often get asked about having a singer for weddings. It's a lovely musical touch since live music is great and a live singer really elevates a wedding. You can choose according to your favourite singers. If you're a huge Ed Sheeran fan, you may wish to book a male singer guitarist like Thom who can play guitar solo and also sing both with acoustic guitar and also with backing tracks. The cost of someone like Thom will be £600+ as he is highly experienced and offer options that can cover background classical guitar, jazz, pop and rock both with acoustic guitar and also with backing tracks, so a big variety. He's been playing in weddings for several years, is in a lot of demand and so the cost reflects that.

Or perhaps you love the idea of a female wedding singer like Eleanor who can cover the likes of jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. But also can sing Norah Jones, Britney Spears and Rhianna. Eleanor will sing with backing tracks or with a guitarist and her costs will start at around £400.

Of course, costs have other factors as well. Sometimes musicians charge less for Sunday and weekdays up to Thursday, as there is a lot more demand for events on Friday and Saturday. All but the most busy singers will be more likely to offer discounted rates on the other days, apart from Bank Holidays. Also months like January - March are more quiet as there are fewer weddings and other events in these months. Unlike June and July when there are often loads of weddings, parties and corporate events, many of which clash with each other.

But for any professional singer of a high quality, you should expect to pay at least £300 and often more. What you're paying for is quality singing, service and professionalism. The same professional qualities you would expect from a good venue, dressmaker, cake maker etc. If it's less, there's a good chance this is a pub singer. That's not to say they won't be great at what they do, so it really depends on what you're looking for.

If you're looking for a singer for your wedding and would like some help, please drop us a line and we'd love to have a chat with you and provide the singer to bring a really special atmosphere to your big day.

Tom contacted us about some birthday surprise music for his wife. He had the idea to lead her to a picnic set up with champagne and balloons and a live jazz duo playing some of their wedding songs.

String Quartet in Hedsor House

Hedsor House is one of the most beautiful wedding venues that we've worked in and ideal for a wedding string quartet. It's no surprise that it's been a location choice of major film productions, with the likes of Tom Hardy, Maggie Smith, Nicole Kidman and Ricky Gervais among many others to have filmed there.
