Birthday Surprise in Kensington

Tom contacted us about some birthday surprise music for his wife. He had the idea to lead her to a picnic set up with champagne and balloons and a live jazz duo playing some of their wedding songs. He wanted us to help him set this up so we sorted out the champagne and balloons as well as a picnic blanket. He'd initially asked us about a singer and sax player but we'd discussed how a singer can be so much of a performance that they wouldn't be able to relax and enjoy their champagne as much. When I explained that our guitar and sax duo could play tunes from their wedding, such as 'Here Comes the Sun', Tom checked out their demo video and was sure that they'd be perfect.

Once we established which champagne to buy (Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, in case you wondered!), then we set out organising the music for the birthday surprise. Somewhat typically, the good old British weather was the only thing getting in the way. And so with two days to go, Tom made the very sensible call to change the picnic from Kensington Gardens to the inside of their apartment in Kensington. It was just going to be too cold to enjoy sitting in the park, even with brilliant live music and champagne.

On the day, we co ordinated getting the helium balloons to tie to the champagne and transported that with ice to Kensington, as well as an ice bucket and champagne flutes. Then with around 30 mins to go, Tom brought Laura out for a short walk and we were able to access the apartment and quickly set everything up for the surprise. When our team left and the guitar and sax duo had set up, we could see from where we watied when the couple were heading back home. We then texted them to start playing Girl from Ipanema,  and then break into Happy Birthday when the happy couple walked in. Laura was thrilled beyond belief with the wonderful romantic gesture that Tom had created for her.

We'd been working with Elena, the fabulous West London West London Florist of Lilac and Bloom and she made us a beautiful bouquet to give to Laura at the end of the surprise. This was a small gesture of our congratulations to the birthday girl and helped to cap a great birthday surprise. After playing for an hour, we packed up and left the couple in peace to enjoy the rest of their evening as they were off to a romantic dinner. Job done and we were super happy with the resulting smiles and joy.

If you're looking to surprise your partner, husband or wife on their birthday, get in touch so we can help you elevate the occasion and bowl them over with surprise music, champagne and anything else wonderful to celebrate them on their special day. We'd love to help with this bespoke and personal gesture of love.

String Quartet in Hedsor House

String Quartet in Hedsor House

Hedsor House is one of the most beautiful wedding venues that we've worked in and ideal for a wedding string quartet. It's no surprise that it's been a location choice of major film productions, with the likes of Tom Hardy, Maggie Smith, Nicole Kidman and Ricky Gervais among many others to have filmed there.

Classical Wedding Music

Classical Wedding Music

These days we get more requests for pop music than classical. But having live musicians in your wedding that play classical and popular music has some obvious advantages.
