Lovely Event for EC Global in Courtfield Gardens
We've enjoyed playing for EC Global for the last two years in Courtfield Gardens. It's a really lovely event that has been blessed with great weather for both years (it's like they can tell the future with the perfect timing of two stunning hot summer evenings!). The event itself is a great mix of formal and informal. The open-sided marquees are there and there's a big and fabulous BBQ. It's a networking event and this open plan/catering works brilliantly so there's no 'spatial' pressure or anything. Meanwhile, the dedicated catering team take care of the champagne/wine/beer/etc.
Starting with more formal, classical tunes, we then moved on to our arrangements of pop tunes that we know work well in these kind of events. And of course throwing in some fun, appropriate ones like English Country Gardens and Summertime.
The atmosphere is buzzing but not manic, so we played music to reflect that. Triumphant tunes like Viva la Vida, Titanium. As well as fun ones like Wake Me Up, Rather Be and Happy. We do always try and play music to reflect the atmosphere - sometimes to lift it and sometimes to calm it a bit. This is a skill developed over time and playing in such a large range of events. Looking at each one as unique helps in achieving the right balance required.
